What Number Are You Feeling Today?

A, B, C or D?

What are you feeling today?

A random choice?

A good guess?

Guess we will have to wait and see.

Watch out for the ones who try too hard.

For absolutely no reason.

They want to feel proud of pencil marks on paper.

But I have more than that.

I am proud of what I say and do, my marks don’t really mean a thing.

When I lie down for the last time…

Will I think of my grade eleven French test?

I will think of the ones who matter most,

And what I have done with my life.

So do not try to take away that pleasure,

With your pop quiz and lie.

I will pick a random choice,

Multiple to choice from.

Only one will win.

Maybe this one,

I see a similar word.

Or maybe I can bring out the helper.

We aren’t included in the class discussions,

But at least we aren’t trying to be the best.

Just trying to be our bests.

So next time you get that paper,

Do not fret or sweat.

Life is longer than that test.

There is more to life, just wait yet.

My Birthday

On this day years ago, I was born. Miles and oceans away, I did not know where life would take me. In the hospital that has since burned down, located in the Garden State. The island nation that feels so close but is so far. Upside-down is how I was at first, and my parents […]
