The road was narrow. The spines of each leaf green in colour. The fresh smell of mint lifts the air.

I see something in the distance.

White fur and yellow teeth.

As big as a school bus.

The arms stretch wide,

And the legs grow thin.

As it stands up with a big stride.

I think to myself,

What is this creature?

Bigger than a bear,

Smaller than an elephant.

But with lots more hair.

I see another approaching,

This one as red as blood.

With the eyes of the ocean.

And the eyelashes the length of shoelaces.

As I stand up from the moss-covered floor,

My pupils grow wide in surprise.

As a flock more of these things come scrambling to my side.

One of every colour in the rainbow.

Each different in a changing way.

As gold as coins of rich are saturated,

My mind starts to fade away.

Nor a bird, or frog or worm in sight.

These creatures see nothing of the sort.

I start to run.

And fast as a cheetah after its prey.

As the long night begins to fall,

I see out my foggy window.

There are no more creatures in sight.

The fairest way I go.

My Birthday

On this day years ago, I was born. Miles and oceans away, I did not know where life would take me. In the hospital that has since burned down, located in the Garden State. The island nation that feels so close but is so far. Upside-down is how I was at first, and my parents […]

I See It

I see it in every move I make, and the fears I fear overtake. This is what I am meant to do? Or is it simpler? Should I live the natural way? Or force things into an uncomfortable place? Should I stay? Should I stay the same? This has changed everything. I do not know […]
