My Birthday

On this day years ago, I was born.

Miles and oceans away,

I did not know

where life would take me.

In the hospital that has since burned down,

located in the Garden State.

The island nation that

feels so close

but is

so far.

Upside-down is how I was at first,

and my parents

wondered if I would make it.

This tale was not a walk-in-the-park,

not that I can recall.

A city named after an officer,

Robert Sale to be exact.

The history of all things

brought me to

this very moment.

Young and free,

peace and prosperity.

Years ahead, this day remains

special.

For I entered the world,

another fish in the sea. Swimming

endlessly within our tainted world.

Hoping that this day will mean something.

I See It

I see it in every move I make, and the fears I fear overtake. This is what I am meant to do? Or is it simpler? Should I live the natural way? Or force things into an uncomfortable place? Should I stay? Should I stay the same? This has changed everything. I do not know […]
